2008 Marching Southerners - "From Russia with Love" (1 of 2)

At the 2008 JSU Contest of Champions, the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners performed their 2008 production. "From Russia with Love." The show features the music of several Russian composers and includes quite a few charts made from by DCI drum and bugle corps: Russian Sailors Dance from the Red Poppy (1994 Santa Clara Vanguard) - Reinhold Gliere "Trepak" from the Nutcracker Suite (1987 Phantom Regiment) - Peter IlyichTchaikovsky Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (1995 Phantom Regiment) - Sergei Rachmaninoff "Finale" from Symphony No. 5 (1996 Phantom Regiment) - Dmitri Shostokovich "The Great Gate of Kiev" from Pictures at an Exhibition (1987 Santa Clara Vanguard) - Modest Mussorgsky If you listen carefully you will also hear snippets of James Bond theme (not sure how similar but the Cavaliers did a Bond show in 2004) and a snippet of the Bottle Dance from Fiddler on the Roof, a Santa Clara Vanguard classic. So whether you are a drum corps who wants to hear some of DCI's "greatest hits" played in way to take you back to the shows of the Vanguard and Phantom Regiment or whether you just enjoy marching band enjoy the 2008 Southerners. I think you will see why the Southerners are, without a doubt, the best marching band in America! And now for the moment you have all been waiting for....THE JACKSONVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY MAAAAAAAARCHING SOUTHERNERS!!! BLOW SOUTHERNERS!!
